Uline’s Massive CT Warehouse to Boost Jobs, Local Revenue
PLAINFIELD, Conn. — Wisconsin-based packaging giant Uline is making major moves in the Northeast by constructing a 1.25 million square foot warehouse in Plainfield, Connecticut — a project that is expected to create 200 new jobs and bring significant revenue to the region.

The company, which manufactures and distributes shipping, industrial, and packaging materials, got the green light from Plainfield officials back in April. Construction began in May at the site on Plainfield Pike Road, just off Interstate 395, and the facility is slated to open its doors in June 2026.
“It’s coming along nicely,” said Kevin Cunningham, Plainfield’s first selectman. “They already have the four walls up and they’re finishing up on the roofing.”
Cunningham emphasized the broader impact the project will have: “Having the warehouse built in Plainfield is great for the town, the region and the state. It’s one of only 10 warehouses of this type that the company has in the United States, so it’s something the state should be proud of.”
When completed, the massive facility will help serve Uline’s customers throughout New England. Currently, the company’s Allentown, Pa. warehouse handles all regional deliveries. The new Plainfield operation is expected to ease that load and improve shipping efficiency to the Northeast.
The town’s economic outlook is already seeing a boost. According to Cunningham, the warehouse is projected to generate over $1.5 million in revenue for Plainfield every year — money that will help fund local services, schools, and infrastructure improvements.

The property — located at 143-151 Plainfield Pike Road — was purchased by a Uline-affiliated LLC in August 2023. The land once formed part of a sprawling apple orchard, Cunningham noted, and it’s now transforming into a hub of modern logistics.
Uline’s arrival isn’t the only big logistics news for Plainfield. A Lowe’s distribution center already operates in town, and Amazon is gearing up to open a 200,000 square foot delivery station nearby on Lathrop Road, at the site of the former Plainfield Greyhound Park. The Amazon site will handle “final mile” deliveries, the crucial last step before packages reach local doorsteps.
“Our facility in Plainfield is slated to launch in the coming months in time for the holiday season,” said Amber Plunkett, an Amazon spokesperson. “We’ll share more specific information about our hiring initiatives and opening plans soon.”
With multiple large distribution hubs taking shape — and convenient access to Interstate 395 — Plainfield is quickly becoming a key player in Connecticut’s expanding logistics network.
Cunningham summed it up simply: “This is great news for Plainfield. These projects bring jobs, they boost the tax base, and they show that our community is open for business.”
