University of Kansas Secures Additional $10M Gift to Build New Entrepreneurship Hub

The University of Kansas (KU) has received a significant $10 million anonymous donation to support the development of a new entrepreneurship hub, marking a major advancement for innovation and student support on campus. The contribution is intended to bolster the School of Business’s facilities and programs that prepare students for successful entrepreneurial careers.
The gift comes on the heels of the same donor’s historic $50 million lead donation in 2023 to the KU School of Business — the largest single commitment in the university’s history. Combined, the $60 million investment will greatly expand KU’s capacity to deliver cutting-edge business education, career readiness, and global opportunities.

The newly funded entrepreneurship hub will serve as a central space for students from across disciplines to gather, brainstorm, and launch projects. According to KU officials, roughly 70% of students participating in entrepreneurship initiatives today are from outside the School of Business, reinforcing the university's belief that entrepreneurship is a university-wide priority, not limited to one department.
“One of the ways KU drives economic growth in Kansas is by ensuring our graduates have the skills and the entrepreneurial ability to succeed in their fields,” said KU Chancellor Douglas A. Girod. “This gift creates a greater KU for all students, with the hub expanding entrepreneurship’s reach and impact.”
In addition to housing workspaces and resources for student innovators, the facility will serve as a base for the business school’s career-focused professional development initiatives, expanded study abroad programs, and hands-on academic enrichment.
"This project represents the next step in KU’s commitment to preparing students to lead in a rapidly changing global economy," said Paige Fields, dean of the KU School of Business. "It gives them a place to turn ideas into action — whether that’s launching a business, building a nonprofit, or driving change within existing industries."
University leaders also emphasized that the hub will serve as a regional economic driver by equipping future leaders with entrepreneurial mindsets that translate into job creation and innovation throughout Kansas and beyond.
Construction timelines for the entrepreneurship hub have not yet been finalized, but planning is underway. KU officials anticipate the building will become a dynamic part of the university's long-term vision for student success and regional economic development.
“This hub will be a powerful catalyst for the next generation of Jayhawk entrepreneurs,” said Fields. “It’s not just a building — it’s a launchpad.
