The University of Vermont has completed construction on a new support facility at its Archie Post Athletic Complex, marking a significant investment in sports infrastructure and student-athlete experience.

The $5 million Pizzagalli Support Building, backed by a $2 million lead gift from longtime supporters Remo and Donna Pizzagalli, officially opened this spring and was formally dedicated during a ceremony on April 17 in Burlington.
Spanning approximately 4,700 square feet, the one-story building serves as a central hub for multiple athletic programs and events hosted at the complex, which has been in use for more than 60 years.
Positioned at the entrance of the Archie Post Athletic Complex, the new building anchors several key venues, including Virtue Field, Moulton Winder Field and the Frank H. Livak Track and Field Facility. It is designed to support field hockey, soccer, lacrosse and track and field programs, along with community events and regional competitions.
The facility includes modern locker rooms, an athletic training area and dedicated space for officials. Fan-focused amenities such as concessions, ticketing areas, updated restrooms and a gathering space aim to improve the overall game-day experience.
“This is a very exciting moment for our athletics program, and I'm incredibly appreciative of the support from Remo and Donna and the many others who have contributed so generously to the project's completion,” said Jeff Schulman. “The Pizzagalli Support Building is a game-changer—we now have a modern facility that supports all of the high-level games and events that occur at the complex and annually attract tens of thousands of visitors to our campus.”
University officials said the building will serve nearly 300 student-athletes, coaches and staff, while accommodating more than 50,000 visits annually.
The project reflects a collaborative fundraising effort involving alumni, donors and supporters of UVM Athletics. In addition to the Pizzagallis’ lead contribution, several former student-athletes played key roles in bringing the project to fruition.
“This facility will have an immediate and lasting impact, strengthening the sense of community that defines UVM,” said Kathleen Kelleher. “Funding the building's construction was truly a team effort. We are deeply grateful to the Pizzagalli family and all of the donors who made this project a reality.”
Additional contributions helped fund key elements of the facility, including the Hilton Family Plaza and the naming of the home locker room.
Remo Pizzagalli, co-founder of Pizzagalli Construction, emphasized the broader purpose of the investment.
“This project represents everything we value—teamwork, opportunity, and giving back,” he said. “We're proud to support a facility that will serve so many student-athletes and bring people together around competition and community. UVM played an important role in our family's life, and we hope this building helps create lasting experiences for generations of Catamounts to come.”
University leaders say the project completes a long-term vision for the Archie Post Athletic Complex, positioning it as a premier outdoor sports venue in the Northeast while strengthening recruitment and community engagement efforts.
