A new manufacturing facility in Monee, Illinois, is now operational following the completion of a $51 million expansion by Voortman Steel Machinery. The grand opening marks the next phase of the company’s U.S. growth strategy and expands its manufacturing and supply chain capabilities in the region.
The project was initially announced in 2024, with groundbreaking taking place in October of that year. The completed expansion gives Voortman additional space and infrastructure to support growing demand for its steel processing machinery and software solutions.
The Monee development includes a new 100,000-square-foot building. The facility is designed to support Voortman’s manufacturing operations while strengthening its ability to serve customers across North America.
Voortman manufactures CNC machinery and software used for steel processing applications. The company established its U.S. operations in Illinois in 2005, serving customers throughout North, Central and South America.
The new facility expands local production capabilities and supports additional manufacturing, service and supply chain functions. Voortman’s own history identifies the Monee location as a new U.S. manufacturing center intended to strengthen its North American presence.
The investment is expected to create 51 new jobs while retaining 40 existing positions. The project was supported through Illinois’ Economic Development for a Growing Economy, or EDGE, program.
The expansion also strengthens Monee’s role within the regional manufacturing sector by bringing additional production activity and technical employment to Will County.
The development is part of a broader push to expand advanced manufacturing and supply chain capacity in Illinois. Voortman’s investment adds manufacturing infrastructure while positioning the company closer to customers and supply networks in the North American market.
The opening demonstrates continued investment in U.S.-based manufacturing capacity for specialized steel processing equipment. For the construction and industrial sectors, localized production can support equipment availability, technical services and supply chain responsiveness as demand for automated steel fabrication technologies grows.
With its new Monee manufacturing center, Voortman has expanded its physical footprint in the United States and established additional capacity to support its North American operations.
