A new athletic facility at Charlotte Christian School is moving toward completion, adding specialized sports and student-support space to the Charlotte, North Carolina, campus. Wayne J. Griffin Electric is handling electrical and telecommunications installations for the 53,000-square-foot project, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
The Saleh Athletic Center will serve students across the school's lower, middle and upper divisions, spanning junior kindergarten through 12th grade.
Wayne J. Griffin Electric's Charlotte team is responsible for several major electrical systems within the new facility. The scope includes lighting and lighting controls, switchgear and floor boxes.
The project also calls for installation of a building-wide fire alarm system. Griffin Electric's telecommunications team is installing security raceways as part of the facility's communications and security infrastructure.
The athletic center is designed around a new gymnasium with seating for 1,100 students, faculty members and family attendees. Additional spaces include a training room, locker rooms and athletic offices, along with a spirit shop, concession stand and outdoor terrace.
Rodgers Builders is serving as general contractor for the project. LS3P Associates is the architect, while Optima Engineering is providing electrical engineering services. All three project partners are based in Charlotte.
The facility is being developed for Charlotte Christian School, which was established in 1950. The school has expanded over its history, with its 2026 graduating class representing its largest class to date.
The project illustrates the electrical coordination required for modern educational athletic facilities, where lighting, power distribution, life-safety systems, telecommunications and security infrastructure must be integrated into a single building.
For owners and project teams, coordinating these systems during construction is particularly important in facilities that combine high-occupancy spaces with specialized athletic, administrative and student-support functions.
