MONONA, Wis. — Construction officially began Thursday on Wisconsin’s first Topgolf, marking a major milestone for entertainment and recreation in Monona. The facility, expected to open by fall 2026, will bring a unique blend of indoor and outdoor golf games, dining, and event spaces to the South Towne Mall area.
Topgolf combines traditional driving range features with interactive games, appealing to both experienced golfers and casual players looking for entertainment. The Monona location will include 72 hitting bays, a full-service restaurant, an outdoor patio, and versatile event spaces, designed to attract families, groups, and corporate events alike.
The project is anticipated to generate more than 250 jobs, spanning construction, hospitality, and operations.
“This is really about having a premier entertainment and recreation facility. It's not about having the best game, the best golf game,” said Monona Mayor Nancy Moore, emphasizing that the new Topgolf will be accessible to all skill levels.
The mayor added that the facility is expected to enhance the city’s reputation as a destination for entertainment and leisure, attracting visitors from across the region and stimulating local economic growth.
“We anticipate this will be a community hub for people of all ages, bringing together entertainment, social interaction, and recreation in one location,” Moore said.
Topgolf executives noted that the Monona site was strategically chosen for its central location and high visibility, ensuring it will become a key recreational destination in southern Wisconsin. The venue will host leagues, events, and private functions, complementing the area’s existing retail and dining offerings.
Construction crews are working on-site to prepare the infrastructure, including bay installations, landscaping, and event spaces. Project managers say that completion is on track for early fall 2026, with phased construction allowing certain parts of the facility to be tested prior to full opening.
“Our goal is to provide an immersive experience where anyone can enjoy golf, food, and entertainment in a safe and dynamic environment,” a Topgolf spokesperson said.
Once operational, Monona’s Topgolf is expected to boost tourism, create new job opportunities, and offer a unique community space that brings together recreation, dining, and live events under one roof.
