Arizona homeowners are gaining new ways to keep their homes powered during outages while earning financial incentives, as FranklinWH Energy Storage Inc. expands its participation in two major utility battery programs across the state.
FranklinWH announced it is now supporting both the Salt River Project (SRP) Battery Partner Program and the Arizona Public Service (APS) Storage Rewards Pilot through its residential energy storage systems. The move makes FranklinWH the first home energy storage provider approved to participate in both programs simultaneously, according to the company.
Utility Programs Expand Backup Power and Incentives
Through the programs, homeowners who install FranklinWH battery systems can earn incentives by allowing utilities to draw on stored energy during periods of peak demand. In exchange, participants receive payments while still retaining backup power for outages — a growing concern in Arizona during extreme heat and summer monsoon seasons.
“When outages happen in Arizona, especially during the summer, the impact can be immediate and serious,” said Justin Hopkins, senior director of strategic accounts at FranklinWH. “These programs give homeowners a way to stay powered, reduce their bills, and support grid reliability at the same time.”
. Rising Electricity Demand Drives Virtual Power Plant Adoption
The programs operate as virtual power plants (VPPs), allowing utilities to aggregate energy stored in residential batteries and deploy it when demand spikes. As electricity consumption increases statewide — driven in part by the expansion of data centers and other energy-intensive facilities — utilities are increasingly turning to distributed energy resources to stabilize the grid.
By enrolling in SRP and APS programs, FranklinWH customers can help offset strain on the grid while contributing to broader reliability efforts, without sacrificing energy security at home.
FranklinWH is working with EnergyHub to coordinate participation in both utility initiatives, enabling seamless integration between home battery systems and utility demand-response needs.
Financing Expands Access for Homeowners
Arizona residents can also participate in the incentive programs by leasing FranklinWH battery systems through Palmetto’s LightReach financing platform. The leasing option lowers upfront costs, making energy storage more accessible to homeowners interested in backup power and utility incentives.
The expansion comes as Arizona utilities continue to explore new approaches to managing peak loads and preventing outages amid population growth, rising temperatures and increased electrification.
FranklinWH said homeowners interested in learning more about its energy storage solutions and utility incentive programs can find additional information on the company’s website.
