New York, NY – September 1, 2026 – The Board of Directors of Goldman Copeland, the New York City-based consulting engineering firm, announced today the appointment of Co-Managing Principals, Daniel Colombini and Tristan Schwartzman, who will guide the firm’s operations and strategy going forward. They will continue the firm’s legacy of award-winning innovative leadership long-established by Charlie Copeland, the firm’s legendary namesake, who initiated this passing of the management reins to a new generation. Charlie will remain a Principal of the firm and will now also serve as Chairman Emeritus. The Board of Directors looks forward to an exciting industry-leading future for the firm with this new leadership structure and team in place.
Dan Colombini (shown at top right), a Principal of the firm since 2015, is an expert at leading multidisciplinary design initiatives, involving engineering and architecture among other disciplines. Those initiatives—for commercial and institutional clients—often consist of large-scale programs of multiple projects. Dan has been recognized repeatedly with national awards. He was named Engineer of the Year for his fire protection expertise by Plumbing Engineer in 2018 and was named to Building Design + Construction’s Class of 40 Under 40 in 2020. The US Department of Energy presented him with its Blazing the Trail Grand Award in 2024, and City & State New York named him a Trailblazer in Clean Energy in 2025.
Tristan Schwartzman (shown at middle right), a Principal of the firm since 2019, is Director of Energy Services and a major innovative presence in energy efficiency in Greater New York. He and his team have completed energy audits and retro-commissioning projects for more than 100 million square feet of commercial and institutional properties. He has helped lead those buildings through the design and implementation of annual multi-million-dollar capital improvement projects based on the findings of those reports, generating energy savings and financial savings for property owners. In 2024, he was named ACEC New York’s New Principal of the Year. Also in 2024, he was named International Energy Engineer of the Year by the Association of Energy Engineers.
Charlie Copeland (shown at bottom right) is a legendary force in engineering with an extraordinary legacy of engineering many of the most iconic structures in Greater New York for leading commercial and institutional real estate owners. He was honored in 2020 with City College of New York’s Townsend Harris Medal and ASHRAE’s Louise & Bill Holladay Distinguished Fellow Award. In 2019 he received

Engineering News-Record’s New York Legacy Award, and in 2018 he was recognized by the New York Energy Consumers Council for extraordinary energy leadership. He received ASHRAE NYC’s Distinguished Service Award in 2013, and he was named AEE Energy Engineer of the Year in 2006.
