Distributor Wire & Cable Opens 169,000-Sq.-Ft. Houston Hub as Gulf Coast Cable Demand Surges
HOUSTON — Distributor Wire & Cable (DWC) has opened a new 169,000-square-foot cable distribution center in the Houston metro area, expanding its capacity to support growing demand across the Gulf Coast’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
The new facility is designed to bring critical specialty wire and cable inventory closer to major project hubs, addressing persistent supply chain constraints that have made sourcing these materials increasingly difficult for electrical distributors.
Specialty cable, once considered a routine procurement item, has become a key differentiator in project timelines as supply chain pressures and tighter construction schedules continue to challenge contractors and suppliers alike.
Strategic Expansion Targets Gulf Coast Growth
The Houston hub allows DWC to serve customers within a 250-mile radius with same-day and next-day delivery options. The facility carries a deep inventory of job-ready products, including VNTC and XLP/PVC tray cable, instrumentation cable and copper building wire.
By offering immediate access to these materials, the company aims to help distributors avoid tying up capital in excess inventory while ensuring they can meet project demands quickly and efficiently.
“Every expansion we make comes back to the same question: does this make our distributor's life easier? Houston is the Mecca of wire and cable, and the people who sell here demand a level of service that matches the scale of what they're quoting,” said Travis Williams, CEO of DWC. “We came to give this market a truly exceptional experience with deep inventory, cut to length capabilities, no minimums, and same day shipping. Specialty cable should be the simplest line on the bill of materials, not the one causing the most stress. That's what this facility is built to deliver.”
The company said the facility reflects its broader strategy to align inventory placement with regions experiencing high infrastructure investment and industrial growth.
Focus on Speed, Customization and Service
In addition to inventory expansion, the Houston center offers value-added services such as precision cut-to-length orders, striping and dyeing, and the company’s standard no cut charges, no reel charges and no order minimums.
DWC leaders emphasized that customer experience and operational efficiency are central to the new facility’s mission.
“We've got a team here that is genuinely obsessed with creating exceptional experiences for customers. Getting product out the door fast, getting it right every time, and making specialty cable the easiest part of our distributor's day instead of the hardest. That's what we come to work for. The Gulf Coast deserves a world-class specialty wire and cable buying experience, and we're committed to delivering it," said Jeremy Rush, CDC manager of the new Houston facility.
The distribution center, located in Missouri City, Texas, became fully operational on April 9, 2026, and is now serving electrical distributors supporting major Gulf Coast construction and energy projects.
Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, DWC operates seven warehouses nationwide and provides specialty wire and cable solutions across industrial, commercial, residential and utility markets. The company said its national footprint enables it to deliver products within one to two days to most locations across the continental United States.
As infrastructure development and energy investments continue to accelerate along the Gulf Coast, DWC’s latest expansion positions the company to play a larger role in supporting contractors and distributors facing ongoing supply chain challenges.
