F.H. Paschen Selected by City of Highland Park as Construction Manager for Permanent Place of Remembrance

Memorial project will establish a permanent space honoring shooting victims, injured survivors, and community resiliency

HIGHLAND PARK, ILLINOIS - The City of Highland Park has selected F.H. Paschen as construction manager for the city’s permanent Place of Remembrance, honoring the victims, survivors, and community impacted by the Highland Park shooting on July 4, 2022. The project features a primary space at the Rose Garden in Laurel Park, located at 1707 St. Johns Avenue adjacent to City Hall, along with a secondary installation at Port Clinton Plaza.

As outlined by the City of Highland Park, The Place of Remembrance has three primary objectives:

● Create an accessible public place for reflection, remembrance, and solace;
● Pay tribute to the memories of the specific victims of this tragedy;
● Honor the community's resiliency, especially those who were injured.

F.H. Paschen will partner with landscape architect SWA Group on preconstruction scheduling, phasing, and budgeting.

The project follows an extensive trauma-informed community engagement process initiated in 2024 to gather input from victims' families, injured individuals, and residents.

F.H. Paschen brings specialized experience managing the construction and renovation of civic memorials across the suburbs of Chicago including the renovation of the public art memorial at Veterans Memorial Park for the Worth Park District as well as the renovation of the Jack Seigel Memorial Plaza for the Village of Schaumburg.
