The new facility will be located within the Pittsboro Commerce Center, a 170-acre industrial development led by Opus Group. The project represents the first building within the development and signals continued growth in Indiana’s manufacturing and construction sectors.
FTI, which delivers engineering, construction, manufacturing and clean energy solutions, said the facility will support its Excellerate® brand. The division specializes in modular electrical assemblies and advanced energy solutions designed to improve safety, productivity and sustainability across construction projects.
New Facility to Drive Jobs and Workforce Development
The expansion is expected to generate more than 200 skilled jobs, including roles for foremen, superintendents and manufacturing leads. Company officials said additional hiring — including entry-level positions, apprenticeships and support staff — will follow as operations scale.
“We’re excited to begin this new chapter for our team as a part of the Pittsboro community,” said Patrick McGettigan, executive vice president of FTI. “As we grow, we continue to maintain our uncompromising focus on safety and our Culture of Care, which is our commitment to supporting our team members’ total well-being and creating a workplace where people feel valued, respected and accepted. We look forward to this new partnership and making a positive impact in Pittsboro.”
FTI will also serve as the general contractor for the project, reinforcing its vertically integrated capabilities across construction and manufacturing.
State and local officials are supporting the development through incentive-based programs, including tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and a property tax abatement from Hendricks County. These incentives are tied to the company’s projected economic impact and job creation.
Pittsboro Commerce Center Positioned for Growth
The Pittsboro Commerce Center is strategically located near the Interstate 74 and County Road 275 East interchange, offering access to key transportation routes and proximity to downtown Indianapolis.
Opus sold 47 acres of the development to FTI and is currently completing site infrastructure, including grading, access roads and utilities. The firm plans to develop the remainder of the site in phases.
“With a skilled workforce, robust transportation infrastructure and proximity to downtown Indianapolis, Pittsboro is well positioned for industrial growth,” said Alex Vulic, vice president of real estate development with Opus. “We’re excited to advance Pittsboro Commerce Center and welcome FTI as the first user in the development. Their growth will bring high-quality jobs and help drive future investment in the region.”
State leadership also emphasized the broader economic significance of the project.

“FTI’s investment in Pittsboro is a testament to Indiana’s robust capability in advanced manufacturing and our commitment to lead advancements in the industry for years to come,” said Mike Braun. “The company’s new operations will have a significant impact on this growing community and its economy, creating hundreds of new jobs and providing unique talent development opportunities to further skill up our workforce and prepare Hoosiers for high-pay, in-demand careers.”
Local officials echoed that sentiment, highlighting the project’s role in long-term economic development.
“We’re proud to welcome FTI to Pittsboro,” said Jarod Baker, president of the Pittsboro Town Council. “Their commitment to innovative manufacturing and workforce development makes them a strong partner as we continue to grow our local economy and create opportunities for residents.”
Founded in 1972, FTI employs more than 5,000 workers nationwide and continues to expand its footprint through investments in manufacturing and clean energy solutions. The Pittsboro facility underscores the company’s strategy to scale operations while supporting workforce development and sustainable construction practices.
