Ironman International Lands $12.1M U.S. Fiber Infrastructure Contract Supporting Alaska Broadband Expansion

Ironman International Ltd. has secured a master construction agreement valued at approximately $12.1 million for fiber optic infrastructure work in the United States, expanding the company’s presence in the growing broadband and telecommunications construction sector.

The Vancouver-based company announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Ironman Directional Drilling Ltd., entered into the agreement May 12 with a U.S.-based communications infrastructure partner to provide construction and related services for fiber optic network projects. The work is expected to begin within the next several weeks and continue through 2026.

Under the agreement, Ironman Directional Drilling will perform services through separate statements of work tied to fiber network infrastructure development. Compensation under the contract totals USD $12,108,750 and will be paid in stages based on completed work authorizations and project milestones.

Company officials said the project scope aligns with Ironman’s established capabilities in telecommunications infrastructure construction, including conduit installation, horizontal directional drilling, plowing, fiber splicing, testing, commissioning and civil construction services.

The infrastructure work is expected to support broadband connectivity improvements for remote Indigenous communities in east-central Alaska, a region where limited communications infrastructure has historically created barriers to internet access and essential digital services.

Management characterized the agreement as a significant commercial milestone that reinforces Ironman’s position within the telecommunications infrastructure and trenchless construction markets.

“This signed agreement is an important step forward for Ironman as we continue to build our platform around critical infrastructure, this project represents more than just laying cable, it’s about connecting families, businesses, schools, and essential services to the opportunities broadband provides,” said Mike Irmen, chief executive officer of Ironman.

“The work under this agreement aligns well with our core values of community partnership and respect, it also demonstrates the value of having experienced crews, specialized equipment, and the operational capability to support complex fiber infrastructure projects in demanding field conditions,” Irmen added.

The announcement reflects continuing demand for broadband infrastructure construction across North America as federal, state and regional initiatives push to expand high-speed internet access into underserved rural communities. Contractors specializing in trenchless construction and fiber deployment have seen increased opportunities tied to public and private telecommunications investment.

Ironman said the agreement supports its broader strategy of pursuing larger-scale infrastructure projects that can leverage the company’s equipment fleet, technical expertise and operational platform across multiple utility sectors.

The company operates in several infrastructure markets beyond telecommunications, including electrical, water and sewer, geothermal, and oil and gas utility services. Its specialty focus on horizontal directional drilling positions the firm to compete in projects where underground installation methods minimize surface disruption and environmental impact.

Company officials noted that revenue recognition tied to the contract will depend on project execution, customer approvals, invoicing schedules, completed work and other customary construction conditions. The agreement also includes standard provisions related to change orders, insurance requirements, completion benchmarks and permitting obligations.

The company trades on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol IMI and on the OTCQB Venture Market under the symbol IMITF.
