McCarthy and Palantir Partner to Deploy AI Across Construction Operations and Job Sites

ST. LOUIS — McCarthy Building Companies and Palantir Technologies have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership aimed at bringing artificial intelligence-driven decision-making to construction projects, field operations and enterprise workflows.

The agreement will see McCarthy leverage Palantir’s Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) to create a connected AI operating system designed to support teams throughout the construction lifecycle, from project planning and design through field execution. Company officials said the initiative is intended to help streamline operations, improve decision-making and address ongoing industry challenges, including labor shortages and increasing project complexity.

McCarthy, one of the nation’s largest privately held construction firms, plans to integrate its extensive construction expertise into AI-powered workflows that can provide real-time insights and operational guidance to project teams.

“We’re incredibly excited about our partnership with Palantir and believe we’ve invested in the premier platform on the market,” said Justin McFarland, Chief Digital Officer of McCarthy. “Beyond the ontology and technology itself, Palantir brings exceptional engineering talent and strategic thought leadership that has accelerated our ability to transform complex operational concepts into scalable solutions faster than we thought possible.”

AI Platform Designed for Construction Field Teams

At the center of the collaboration is McCarthy’s AI Operations Suite, known as Pulse. Built on Palantir’s AIP platform, Pulse is an AI-native system developed to help construction teams analyze project conditions, assess risks and make informed decisions more quickly.

The platform combines Palantir’s data architecture with McCarthy’s construction workflows to provide field personnel with tools for scenario planning, operational analysis and decision orchestration. Company leaders said the system is designed to help superintendents, project managers and field operators evaluate options and respond to changing job-site conditions in real time.

“As a superintendent, this partnership allows me to focus on what matters most for our clients and project teams, rather than getting buried in emails, documents and data,” said Dave Evans, McCarthy Senior Superintendent. “By cutting through the noise and identifying what is most critical, I can devote more attention to delivering exceptional results for our stakeholders.”

The companies said the technology will support field execution while also creating greater connectivity between business functions and project teams.

Expanding AI Across the Construction Enterprise

Beyond field operations, McCarthy plans to deploy the platform across a broad range of construction processes, including estimating, bidding, contracts, procurement, quality assurance and quality control, logistics and equipment planning.

According to the companies, the goal is to establish a unified construction operating system where data and insights generated in one area of the business can be shared and leveraged across the organization. McCarthy is also aligning its internal technology structure around embedded engineering teams and enterprise software development to accelerate innovation.

“McCarthy has built a track record as one of the most respected names in construction for quality and complexity,” said Tristan Gruska, Palantir’s Head of Energy and Infrastructure. “Through this partnership, McCarthy is accelerating its technology ambition and deploying an AI operating system for their entire construction operations, from design through job site execution. With AIP in the hands of their frontline teams, we are seeing what is possible when a world-class builder uses AI to amplify its people and its tradecraft, and the results will help set the pace for the entire sector.”

Industry observers have increasingly pointed to artificial intelligence as a tool that could help contractors improve productivity, reduce administrative burdens and better manage project risks. The partnership between McCarthy and Palantir reflects a growing trend of construction firms investing in advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and support workforce needs as projects become more complex.

The companies said the collaboration represents a shared commitment to accelerating digital transformation throughout the construction industry.
