MUKWONAGO, Wis. — McShane Construction Company has completed construction of Azura Mukwonago, a 72-unit assisted living and memory care community in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, for client Azura Living.

The newly built residence is designed to provide supportive, person-centered housing for seniors requiring assisted living and specialized memory care services. The community adds to the growing portfolio of purpose-built senior housing developments across Wisconsin aimed at addressing increased demand for high-quality elder care environments.

“We’re excited to complete another residence designed to meet the needs of seniors in Wisconsin,” commented Alison Gorham, Vice President & Director of Wisconsin Operations at McShane. “Azura Mukwonago was built with a focus on quality craftsmanship and resident well-being, ensuring a comfortable, supportive environment for seniors.”

Thoughtful Design Across a 6.4-Acre Campus

Designed by Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA), Azura Mukwonago spans a 6.4-acre site and consists of three single-story, wood-frame buildings — two dedicated to assisted living and one to memory care.

The exteriors feature full stone veneer masonry and Hardie board siding, blending durability with a residential aesthetic. In addition to the residential buildings, the development includes a 1,100-square-foot, 35-foot barn structure used for storage and operational support.

Inside, the 72 units offer contemporary finishes and modern features, including resilient flooring, Smart cabinetry, ceramic tile bathrooms, quartz countertops and roller shades. The layouts are organized into three household models with short hallways and clear sight lines, a design strategy intended to promote ease of navigation and enhance resident safety.

Special attention was given to lighting and color selection. Circadian lighting systems are integrated throughout the buildings to help regulate residents’ natural sleep-wake cycles, while calm, continuous color palettes support comfort and cognitive clarity — particularly important in memory care environments.

Resident-Centered Amenities and Outdoor Spaces

Azura Mukwonago provides a range of indoor and outdoor amenities designed to foster engagement, independence and community interaction.

Interior common spaces include community rooms, dining areas, kitchens and sunrooms, along with a fitness area, spa and salon. These shared spaces are designed to support both socialization and wellness programming tailored to seniors’ needs.

Outdoors, residents have access to walking paths, a community garden, a putting green and bocce ball courts, as well as landscaped courtyards that encourage safe outdoor activity and relaxation. The site planning emphasizes accessibility and connection to nature, key components in supporting emotional well-being and overall health among seniors.
