SEATTLE — PCL Construction Enterprises, Inc. has promoted long-time executive Tyler Kautz to vice president, data centers, as the company positions itself to lead in the booming digital infrastructure sector. The move comes as the data center construction market is projected to grow from $287 billion in 2025 to an astonishing $1.3 trillion by 2035.
Kautz will head PCL’s Mission Critical Center of Excellence, overseeing a team that has delivered more than 120 data center and mission critical projects across North America. These range from Tier IV fault-tolerant facilities to retrofits and upgrades in high-security environments.

“Tyler represents the future of PCL – he brings deep expertise, strong client relationships, and a collaborative leadership style that reflects our values,” said Cathy Orquiola, president of PCL’s western U.S. operations. “As we expand our mission critical and data center operations, I'm confident his leadership will continue to position PCL as the builder of choice in high-tech, fast-growing markets.”
Kautz brings nearly two decades of experience at PCL, most recently serving as vice president and district manager in Seattle, where he helped secure major technology partnerships and led the strategic planning behind PCL’s data center division launch. A LEED Accredited Professional with a construction management degree from the University of Washington, Kautz is also known for championing sustainable design in complex environments.
“I'm honored to lead PCL's data center efforts at such a pivotal moment,” Kautz said. “We've built a strong foundation with our mission critical team, and I'm looking forward to driving continued innovation for clients navigating the next wave of digital infrastructure demands.”
Kautz will remain based in Seattle while overseeing national strategy. His appointment marks a broader leadership transition, with Andrew Fernandez stepping in as district manager of the Seattle office to guide local infrastructure and skyline-shaping projects.
