NEW YORK — Infrastructure and engineering firm STV has promoted Chris Cerino and Nejat Babur to senior vice president positions, strengthening leadership within the company’s national buildings practice as demand grows for integrated engineering and design services.

The promotions place both executives in expanded leadership roles overseeing key technical disciplines that support STV’s buildings portfolio across the United States. Cerino serves as the firm’s national structural engineering discipline lead, while Babur leads the company’s national mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering practice.

According to STV, the appointments are intended to reinforce technical leadership and consistency across the firm’s growing portfolio of building projects. As project complexity increases, owners and developers are seeking greater coordination among engineering disciplines and more predictable project delivery outcomes.

“Chris and Nejat shape how we deliver complex buildings at scale,” said Kim Vierheilig, president of STV’s buildings group. “Their leadership strengthens technical consistency across offices and equips our teams to meet rising client expectations for quality, performance and certainty.”

Cerino brings more than 30 years of industry experience to the role, including nearly 16 years with STV. Throughout his career, he has led structural engineering efforts on a variety of large-scale and technically demanding projects. He is also recognized within the engineering profession through leadership positions with the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations.

His industry accomplishments include being named Engineer of the Year by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York in 2021. Cerino earned a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University.

Babur brings more than 35 years of engineering experience and has spent more than seven years with STV. As national MEP discipline lead, he has helped advance the company’s technical standards through the implementation of integrated modeling technologies and advanced analytical tools.

Widely regarded as an expert in pharmaceutical facility design, Babur has authored numerous technical articles for industry publications, including Chemical Engineering Progress, published by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, as well as several international engineering publications. He holds a Master of Science in Energy Engineering from the University of Arizona and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Middle East Technical University.

STV’s buildings group provides architecture, engineering, planning and design services for a broad range of sectors, including justice, education, health care, transportation, science and technology, federal programs and municipal projects.
