BEND, Ore. — Emergency responders rushed to a construction site in northwest Bend Thursday afternoon after a workplace accident left four workers injured and in need of hospital care.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. at 51 NW Thurston Avenue, an area where multiple residential and commercial developments have been rising amid Bend’s ongoing growth boom.
According to Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller, “four people were transported,” though she noted that the extent of injuries were unknown at the time of the response. Crews worked quickly to assess each patient’s condition and safely transfer them to nearby medical facilities.

Authorities have not yet released details on what triggered the accident, and investigators are working to determine whether equipment failure, a fall, or another workplace hazard may have been involved. No fatalities were reported.
Miller said that “all first responder units had cleared within an hour,” indicating a swift and coordinated rescue effort by Bend Fire & Rescue and local law enforcement.
The construction industry continues to face heightened safety concerns as Oregon sees increased development activity. The Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (OSHA) is expected to review the incident to ensure workplace regulations were followed and to help prevent future injuries.
Neighbors in the area reported seeing multiple ambulances and fire trucks arriving on scene, expressing concern about the severity of the situation. The names and employers of the injured workers have not been released as officials notify families.
More updates are expected as authorities continue their investigation.
