Balfour Beatty Marks Structural Milestone on Grand Hyatt Miami Beach Hotel Development

Investment in hospitality infrastructure continues to support convention and tourism markets across South Florida. Balfour Beatty has reached a major construction milestone on the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach, completing the structural framework of a hotel designed to expand accommodations and meeting space next to the Miami Beach Convention Center.

The project is being developed by Terra and Turnberry and is expected to be completed in late 2027.

Hotel Development Progress

Located at the intersection of 17th Street and Convention Center Drive, the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach will rise 17 stories and include approximately 800 guest rooms.

The hotel is planned with 12 floors of accommodations, including 50 suites, along with four levels dedicated to meeting and ballroom facilities. The development will feature approximately 110,000 square feet of meeting space, including an 8,000-square-foot rooftop event lawn overlooking the Miami skyline.

Additional amenities include two resort-style pools, a fitness center, spa treatment room, restaurant, lobby lounge, bar and approximately 17,000 square feet of street-level retail space. A climate-controlled skybridge will provide direct access between the hotel and the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Public Realm and Connectivity Improvements

Beyond the hotel itself, the project includes enhancements intended to improve the surrounding convention district. Planned improvements include new public gathering areas, pedestrian promenades, bicycle-sharing facilities and connections to public transportation.

Designed by Arquitectonica, the development is intended to strengthen access between the convention center and nearby cultural, commercial and entertainment destinations while supporting future meetings and events.
