Barnes & Noble Building New Store in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Book lovers in Colorado Springs will soon have another destination to enjoy, as Barnes & Noble has begun construction on a new store on the city’s east side.

The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department confirmed the location at 3173 Cinema Point within the First & Main Town Center, a major shopping hub home to retailers like Ulta Beauty and Dick’s Sporting Goods. According to Barnes & Noble’s official website, the new store will also feature a Barnes & Noble Café, offering customers a place to browse, read, and relax over coffee.

The opening is planned for February 2026, giving Colorado Springs residents and visitors more than a year to anticipate the arrival of the city’s third Barnes & Noble location. Existing stores are currently located at 1565 Briargate Boulevard, near the Chapel Hills Mall, and 795 Citadel Drive East, near the Citadel Mall.

The expansion underscores the brand’s effort to maintain a strong brick-and-mortar presence, even as many retailers continue to shift toward e-commerce. Barnes & Noble has been modernizing its stores with more community-focused layouts, unique book selections tailored to local readers, and dedicated space for author events, children’s activities, and book clubs.

The choice of First & Main Town Center reflects the chain’s strategy of positioning stores in high-traffic lifestyle and entertainment centers, where shoppers can combine book browsing with dining, shopping, or seeing a movie.

The addition of a café also aligns with Barnes & Noble’s push to make its stores welcoming “third places” — spaces outside of home and work where people can gather. In cities like Colorado Springs, which continues to experience rapid population growth, this type of retail experience helps foster community connections while keeping the tradition of in-person book shopping alive.

With construction underway, the Colorado Springs community can look forward to another hub for readers, families, and coffee lovers early in 2026.
