Burns & McDonnell announced that Engineering Director Kerrie Greenfelder has assumed the presidency of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), where she will lead one of the world's largest organizations supporting engineers and technologists.

Engineering Leadership and Industry Experience

Greenfelder serves as engineering director in Burns & McDonnell's Water Group, overseeing complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the United States.

Her project experience includes wastewater treatment plant expansions, water treatment upgrades, biological nutrient removal evaluations and utility master planning. Her work has supported infrastructure improvements in Kansas, Louisiana and other regions, focusing on treatment capacity, system modernization and long-term utility planning.

In addition to her leadership at Burns & McDonnell, Greenfelder has been active in SWE for nearly three decades, including five years on the organization's board of directors. She was also named an SWE Fellow in 2024.

As president of SWE, Greenfelder will lead an organization representing nearly 50,000 engineers and technologists worldwide. SWE focuses on professional development, networking, leadership opportunities and initiatives that support women pursuing careers in engineering and technology.
