A multifamily development in Chicago's West Loop continues to make visible construction progress as crews advance the concrete superstructure on a 12-story apartment building scheduled for completion next year.

Construction Progress

Clark Construction, working with Adjustable Concrete Construction, has advanced construction at 566 W. Van Buren St. to the underside of the building's sixth floor. The three reinforced concrete cores that will house elevators and stairwells have already risen to approximately the eighth level.

The project, developed by Riverside Investment & Development, will deliver 199 apartments in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood.

Building Design and Features

Designed by Antunovich Associates, the residential building will occupy an L-shaped footprint along Van Buren Street and South Jefferson Street. The northeast portion of the structure, adjacent to the alley and neighboring property, will remain at a single-story height.

Plans also include 42 enclosed parking spaces, all located on the ground floor.

Construction permits for the foundation and superstructure, along with the full building, were issued in March 2026 after the project application was initially submitted in 2022. Additional permits for construction and personnel hoists followed in June.

Market Impact

Continued progress at 566 W. Van Buren reflects ongoing multifamily investment in Chicago's West Loop, where residential development remains a key component of neighborhood growth. For owners, developers and contractors, projects such as this demonstrate sustained demand for urban housing and the continued advancement of infill construction in established downtown districts.
