The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded a $9.4 million construction contract for the renovation of 16 single-family residences at Station Yaquina Bay in Newport, Oregon, supporting upgrades to housing used by Coast Guard personnel and their families.
Bristol Design Build Services LLC of Anchorage, Alaska, received the contract on September 17. The project will completely renovate the 1970s-era residential structures.
Major work includes replacement of roofing, siding and piping, along with other maintenance and repair activities required to modernize the homes.
The residential improvements are part of a broader Coast Guard effort to address facility and infrastructure needs at installations throughout the country.
Construction will be divided into two phases to reduce the effect of the work on Coast Guard members and their families.
Eight homes will be taken offline during the first phase while restoration work is performed. The remaining eight residences will undergo renovation during the second phase.
The phased approach will allow housing improvements to proceed while limiting the number of residences unavailable at any one time.
The Yaquina Bay housing project is funded through the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Reconciliation and forms part of a wider Coast Guard facilities investment program.
The Coast Guard said approximately $16 billion has been awarded to reconciliation-funded projects across the United States to date. The investments cover infrastructure supporting Coast Guard operations and missions nationwide.
For construction contractors, the Yaquina Bay award represents federal spending on residential infrastructure within a specialized government facility, combining building-envelope replacements, piping work and broader rehabilitation requirements.
