Coast Packing Co. Begins Amarillo Facility Construction

Coast Packing Co., a leading processor of edible fats and oils, has officially commenced construction on a cutting-edge refinery and packaging facility in Amarillo, Texas. This new development marks a significant milestone for the 103-year-old, fourth-generation company, enabling it to expand its production of high-quality animal fat shortenings, including lard and beef tallow, for both home and commercial use across the United States.

A Vision for Growth and Modernization

Slated to open in June 2026, the facility will enhance Coast Packing’s operational capacity while incorporating state-of-the-art technology and environmentally responsible practices. With a focus on modernization and sustainability, the company aims to streamline its production processes, ensuring efficiency and eco-friendly manufacturing.

Amarillo, Texas, Facility | Food Processing

The new plant is expected to generate up to 60 new jobs upon reaching full operational status. This expansion underscores Coast Packing’s commitment to growth and innovation within the industry while maintaining its long-standing tradition of producing premium edible fats and oils.

Facility Details and Infrastructure

The refinery will feature a four-level, 10,000-square-foot building, standing 80 feet tall, designed to refine edible fats and oils. Complementing the main refinery will be a boiler house, alongside a dedicated tank farm comprising 12 carbon steel tanks, each measuring 30 feet in height, to store raw materials. These materials will be delivered via a newly constructed rail siding, facilitating efficient transportation and logistics.

Additionally, the packaging and warehouse operations will occupy a separate 36,000-square-foot facility, integrating storage, processing, and administrative offices. This section of the complex will ensure smooth coordination between refining and packaging, optimizing the company’s supply chain and distribution capabilities.
