NEWTON, Mass. — CTA Construction Managers announced the successful completion of the structural steel erection for the new Countryside Elementary School in Newton, Massachusetts, marking a major construction milestone for one of the city’s most anticipated educational infrastructure projects.

The new 76,000-square-foot, three-story facility represents the City of Newton’s continued investment in modern, energy-efficient learning environments that support 21st-century education and community growth.
“We’re proud to reach this important milestone in the construction of the new Countryside Elementary School,” said a spokesperson for CTA Construction Managers. “The completion of the structural steel framework lays the foundation for the next phase of work, which includes exterior envelope construction and interior systems installation.”
The new Countryside Elementary School will replace the aging existing building with a state-of-the-art facility designed to serve more than 400 students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The project emphasizes sustainability, safety, and flexibility, integrating modern teaching spaces, collaborative learning zones, and community-oriented features.
CTA Construction Managers is coordinating with the Newton Public Schools, City of Newton, and the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to ensure the project meets both educational and environmental goals. The design prioritizes energy efficiency, natural lighting, and indoor air quality, reflecting Newton’s broader commitment to sustainability and carbon reduction.
“The structural phase completion is always a pivotal moment—it’s when the community begins to see the shape and scale of what will soon be a vibrant educational space,” said the CTA project manager. “We’re grateful for the collaboration among city officials, architects, engineers, and our skilled trade partners who have kept this project on schedule.”
With the steel structure now in place, crews will shift focus to enclosing the building, including roof installation, exterior walls, windows, and mechanical systems. Interior work such as classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, and specialized learning spaces will begin in early 2026.
When completed, the new Countryside Elementary School will feature:
