The acquisition gives the buyers an established residential and commercial construction business while providing a large recurring-service customer base that can support expansion into additional home-service categories.
Founded in 1966, Shasta Pools has remained family-owned for three generations. Its operations include pool construction and renovation, luxury pool design, hardscaping, warranty services, pool-supply sales and recurring maintenance.
The company has completed more than 150,000 pool construction and renovation projects in Maricopa County. Its maintenance operations provide recurring customer interactions that the new ownership group plans to use as the foundation for broader home-services expansion.
The transaction closed Aug. 6, with the announcement issued Aug. 31. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The ownership group brings together three organizations with different backgrounds.
Dansons Capital Group, a Scottsdale-based family office, is led by CEO Dan Thiessen, President Jeff Thiessen and COO Jordan Thiessen. The group previously built Pit Boss Grills into a global brand. Dan Thiessen will serve as chairman of the new platform and oversee efforts to recruit industry talent and expand the business.
Accrual Equity Partners, a founder-led investment firm, has experience investing in fragmented service industries. Co-founder and Managing Partner Jacob Tilzer previously built Kaizen Auto Care, an automotive service platform that was later acquired by private equity.
Hydro Construction, founded in 1986 and led by Curt Lonsdale, brings operating experience from Arizona's commercial pool construction market.
The combined group plans to operate Shasta Home Services under the established Shasta brand. While the company has not specified which additional trades will be added first, the strategy is designed to expand organically and through partnerships into essential residential services.
The transaction highlights the growing importance of recurring service relationships in the valuation and expansion of residential construction businesses.
Shasta's more than 200,000 customer relationships give the new platform an established base of homeowners with existing connections to the brand. The company is also developing a new Scottsdale headquarters and design center, including a contact center intended to provide a central customer-service point as the home-services operation expands.
For construction and service business owners, the deal illustrates how companies with strong local brands and recurring maintenance operations can attract buyers beyond traditional construction-sector acquirers. Recurring service revenue can provide a different growth profile from project-based construction and create opportunities to introduce additional services to an established customer base.
The acquisition signals continued interest in residential trade businesses that combine construction capabilities, established customer relationships and recurring service revenue.
For pool contractors and other residential service businesses, the transaction also demonstrates how customer density and recurring routes can become strategic assets in an acquisition. Buyers may increasingly evaluate businesses not only on construction backlog and project volume, but also on the size, quality and longevity of their service relationships.
Shasta's next expansion moves will determine how quickly the pool-focused business develops into a broader home-services platform. For owners of residential trade businesses, the transaction provides another example of how established local brands can become the foundation for larger multi-service operations.
