Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has officially begun construction on a new $70 million Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Perot Field Alliance Airport in Fort Worth, Texas — a move that underscores its growing footprint in the U.S. aviation sector.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on October 20, marks the start of construction for the state-of-the-art hangar, which will serve as a dedicated maintenance center for Embraer’s line of E-Jets. Once operational in 2027, the facility will expand Embraer’s U.S. maintenance capacity by 53%, enabling faster service turnaround and enhanced support for regional airline operators across North America.
“This moment marks a new chapter in Embraer’s journey in the U.S., a country where we’ve been for over 46 years,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer. “With an investment of up to USD70 million and the creation of 250 new skilled aviation jobs, this facility is a symbol of our long-term commitment to the U.S. market.”
The project will complement Embraer’s current operations at Alliance Airport, where the company already maintains a hangar in partnership with the City of Fort Worth, Denton County, and the State of Texas. The new complex will include cutting-edge infrastructure, such as advanced tooling and digital maintenance tracking systems, to support next-generation aircraft maintenance.
Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker hailed the development as a major win for the region’s economy and aerospace ecosystem. “The airport continues to serve as a hub of innovation and economic opportunity, and Embraer’s expansion further strengthens Fort Worth’s position as a global leader in aviation and advanced manufacturing,” she said, calling the groundbreaking an “exciting milestone for the region.”
Robert Allen, President and CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership, emphasized the project’s regional significance. “Once completed, these buildings will expand Embraer’s presence in Fort Worth and, just as important, will expand Fort Worth’s role as a leader in aviation,” he noted.
The facility is part of Embraer’s broader strategy to strengthen its after-sales support infrastructure and bring services closer to customers. The company’s global maintenance network currently includes over 80 authorized service centers and 13 Embraer-owned facilities worldwide. The addition of the Fort Worth MRO site will enhance its North American service coverage, reducing turnaround times and improving customer service efficiency.
In addition to job creation, the project is expected to inject millions into the local economy through construction activity, supplier contracts, and workforce development programs in the North Texas area. Local officials also anticipate that the facility will draw aviation-related businesses and educational partnerships focused on training skilled technicians.
With its investment, Embraer continues to strengthen its U.S. manufacturing and support presence, reaffirming its position as one of the key players driving innovation, workforce growth, and sustainability in the American aerospace industry.
