FCC Environmental Services has secured a major new contract to operate the South Municipal Waste Transfer Station in Minneapolis, further solidifying its presence in Minnesota’s waste management sector. This marks the Houston-based company’s second contract in the state since entering the Minnesota market in 2024, underscoring its rapid expansion in the Upper Midwest.

Under the newly awarded contract, FCC Environmental Services will oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the transfer station, including the transport of both construction and demolition debris (C&D) and municipal solid waste (MSW). The contract begins on May 5 and is structured as an initial three-year term, with the possibility of two one-year extensions based on performance and municipal needs.
“This new contract reflects our ongoing efforts to expand our service offerings in Minnesota,” said Dan Brazil, CEO of FCC Environmental Services. “We are proud to bring our expertise to Minneapolis and look forward to delivering reliable and sustainable waste solutions to the community.”
The base value of the contract is estimated at $5 million, but if the city exercises both extension options, the total value could reach $8.7 million. As part of its commitment to the project, FCC plans to invest approximately $500,000 in operational upgrades. This includes the purchase of three specialized waste transport vehicles and 18 new containers to enhance the efficiency and environmental compliance of the site’s operations.
In addition to the equipment investment, FCC will also be hiring three full-time local employees to run the station, signaling its commitment to supporting the local economy while maintaining high service standards.
The South Transfer Station plays a critical role in the city’s waste infrastructure, acting as a hub for consolidating waste before it is hauled to its final disposal or recycling destination. City officials view the contract as a key step toward ensuring long-term reliability and environmental stewardship at the facility.
FCC Environmental Services, which has steadily grown its footprint across the United States, continues to build momentum in regional markets by combining technical expertise with a focus on customer service and sustainability. The company currently holds municipal waste contracts in multiple states, including Texas, Florida, and now Minnesota, where it is positioning itself as a long-term partner for cities looking to modernize their waste systems.
