Gilbane Names Veronique Bourgier Chief Growth & Strategy Officer

Providence, Rhode Island-based Gilbane has announced a significant addition to its executive team, naming Veronique Bourgier as the company’s first chief growth and strategy officer. The move marks a strategic step in Gilbane’s push to strengthen its long-term growth plans and expand its market footprint.

According to the company’s Aug. 7 announcement, Bourgier will work across all Gilbane subsidiaries, including Gilbane Building Co. and Gilbane Development Co., to identify emerging market opportunities, foster innovation, and drive both organic and inorganic growth. This will include exploring partnerships, advancing business transformation initiatives, and pursuing potential mergers and acquisitions.
Bourgier brings more than 20 years of international experience, including 13 years in the United States, with a strong background in strategic planning, innovation, and environmental, energy, and infrastructure sectors. Before joining Gilbane, she served as chief growth officer at Boston-based Veolia North America, a leading environmental services and resource management firm.
In her new role, Bourgier will focus on shaping Gilbane’s enterprise-wide growth strategies to position the company for sustained success in an evolving construction and development market.
With this appointment, Gilbane is signaling a clear focus on long-term innovation and market leadership. The company said it is “doubling down” on its commitment to providing end-to-end solutions across the built environment.

The announcement comes as Gilbane highlights its $7.7 billion in 2024 revenue and a portfolio of 40 public-private partnerships worth $4.4 billion. Recent high-profile projects include:
- The $4.3 billion Indiana University Health Downtown Hospital in Indianapolis, built alongside F.A. Wilhelm, which celebrated its topping out in May.
- The $2.1 billion Buffalo Bills Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, developed through a joint venture with Turner Construction.
By bringing Bourgier on board, Gilbane aims to strengthen its competitive edge in large-scale, complex projects and capture opportunities in both traditional and emerging sectors.
“Veronique’s experience in driving innovation and long-term growth across diverse industries makes her uniquely positioned to help shape Gilbane’s strategic vision,” the company said in its statement.
“I’m excited to join Gilbane at such a pivotal time,” Bourgier said. “The construction and development sectors are undergoing rapid transformation, and I look forward to helping the company expand its reach and deliver value for clients in new and innovative ways.”
Industry analysts note that the creation of a dedicated chief growth and strategy role reflects broader trends among major contractors, as firms seek to navigate economic uncertainty, technological change, and shifting client expectations while positioning themselves for sustained success over the next decade.
