Grace Community Church Leads Huntsville Construction Surge

Grace Community Church’s $3.3M Expansion Leads Alabama’s New Construction Permits
Six of the 16 new building permits for million-dollar-plus construction projects issued in Alabama last week are located in and around Huntsville—one of the state’s fastest-growing regions for development.
The most expensive of the bunch is a major expansion of Grace Community Church in Huntsville’s bustling Research Park area. The church received a $3.3 million permit for a new Children’s Ministry Wing, signaling continued investment in both its facilities and community outreach.

The new addition will feature a variety of family-focused amenities, including:
- A large check-in area
- 15 classrooms for different age groups
- An infant care room
- Dedicated Children’s Ministry restrooms
- A resource room
- Additional adult restrooms, including a family restroom
- Expanded parking facilities
The project is being handled by Summit Structures and is scheduled to be completed by October 2026.
With its continued expansion, Grace Community Church is positioning itself as a key anchor in the rapidly developing Research Park corridor. The new wing will allow the church to better serve growing numbers of young families in the region.
Additional Projects Across Alabama

Other notable permits issued the same week include:
- A $3.65 million project for Westview Church of Christ in Athens, handled by EMW Construction Inc.
- Two commercial permits in Athens valued at $1.15M and $1.63M, awarded to Tim Killian Construction Inc.
- A $3.2 million residential development by D.R. Horton in southwest Huntsville at 3999 Yellowhammer Way SW.
- In Birmingham, Parkside 15 LLC received permits totaling over $4 million for two large projects at 1200 S 1st Avenue.
- A $2.9 million development in Lee County for Clear Springs Properties LLC at 305 Lee Road 2231, Bldg. 5.
- Multiple luxury home permits in Hoover and Vestavia Hills, with several exceeding $1 million.
These high-value permits reflect a healthy pace of construction activity statewide, with a strong concentration in North Alabama cities like Huntsville and Athens—regions seeing significant population and economic growth.
