Construction owners and contractors rely on coordinated trade partner relationships to maintain safety, quality and project performance, particularly in markets with unique logistical and workforce challenges. Hensel Phelps recently recognized several Hawaii trade partners for their contributions to construction projects across the state.

More than 150 owners, designers, trade partners and other members of Hawaii’s architecture, engineering and construction community attended the Partner Appreciation Event in Honolulu during spring 2026. The company highlighted collaboration across the local construction industry and recognized trade partners for safety and quality performance.

Trade Partners Recognized for Safety Leadership

The Safety Excellence Awards recognized trade partners for practices including hazard identification, pre-task planning, field coordination and safety leadership.

DN Tanks, The Zelinsky Company and Helix Electrical received the awards for their safety performance and contributions to project teams.

The recognition reflects the role specialty contractors play in maintaining jobsite safety as projects become increasingly complex and require coordination among multiple trades and construction disciplines.

Quality Awards Highlight Technical Performance

Hensel Phelps also presented Quality Excellence Awards to Dorvin D. Leis Co., Electro Test and PMJ Builders.

The awards recognized technical expertise, preparation, workmanship and attention to detail throughout the construction process. Coordination among general contractors, trade partners, designers and owners remains an important factor in managing quality and reducing rework on construction projects.

The event also provided an opportunity for members of Hawaii’s construction community to strengthen relationships and connect with organizations involved in the state’s building activity.

Why It Matters

Trade partner performance can directly affect project safety, quality, schedule coordination and delivery outcomes. For construction owners and general contractors, maintaining strong relationships with specialty contractors can support more consistent project execution, particularly in markets where labor, logistics and geographic conditions can add complexity.

Hensel Phelps’ recognition program also illustrates how contractors are placing greater emphasis on trade partner collaboration as part of broader efforts to improve construction performance and maintain safety and quality standards.
