HITT Contracting and BE&K Building Group have reached a major structural milestone on Boeing South Carolina’s second Final Assembly building, advancing construction at the aerospace manufacturer’s North Charleston site. The topping out marks completion of the building’s highest structural steel placement and moves the project toward its next stage of construction.

Final Steel Placement Advances Assembly Facility

The joint venture celebrated the milestone on October 26, 2026, following months of planning, coordination and fieldwork. The final structural steel was installed at the highest point of the building, marking a significant step in the delivery of the new assembly facility.

BRPH is the project architect. HITT and BE&K credited trade partners, project teams and safety professionals for supporting the work through coordinated construction activities.

Safety and Trade Coordination Remain Central

The topping-out milestone reflects the coordination required to erect structural steel on a large industrial project. As construction progresses, the project team is maintaining its focus on safe work practices and collaboration among contractors and trade partners.

The next phase will continue the development of the assembly building, although the announcement did not provide a completion date, project value or additional details about the remaining construction scope.

Industrial Construction Supports Aerospace Facilities

Large-scale manufacturing and assembly buildings require coordination across structural, architectural and building systems work to support specialised industrial operations. The Boeing South Carolina project adds to the construction activity at the company’s North Charleston site.

For contractors and owners involved in industrial development, the milestone highlights the importance of project planning, trade coordination and safety management as facilities move from structural construction toward subsequent stages of delivery.
