Kansas Athletics hosted a media tour of the ongoing renovations and construction at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on Friday. Athletic Director Travis Goff assured that the project remains on track, with no delays.

“On time, on budget,” Goff said. “Four words that we're really enjoying continuing to say around here.”

In addition to the stadium's renovations, significant upgrades have been made to the Anderson Family Football Complex. One key highlight is the newly designed team meeting room, offering a prime view of the field. Goff, alongside Deputy Athletic Director Jason Booker and Senior Associate Athletic Director Brad Nachtigal, shared that the space will be used for fan engagement on game days. Additionally, Head Coach Lance Leipold now has a new office with a view, which is expected to help close recruiting visits.

The upgraded team meeting room can accommodate over 170 people, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows facing the field.

“It’s powerful and we’ve been talking about it for a couple of years,” Goff said. “We’ve had renderings, we can do videos and fly-throughs, but there’s nothing like a recruit and a family walking up and actually seeing. And of course, knowing that they’re going to be playing there their entire career.”

The stadium renovations also include a massive new 5,280-square-foot video board, approximately twice the size of the old one and positioned 60 feet closer to the field. Goff mentioned that the southern side of the video board, which faces the hill and Campanile, could host concerts, movie nights, and other events. Other new features include suites, hospitality and club spaces, and three levels of seating. A new turf field is set to be installed in time for the home opener on August 23.

“Now, they’re in the suite spaces, the hospitality and club spaces, finishings, lighting, branding, signage—all those kinds of aspects are still out in front of us,” Goff said.

Goff praised Turner Construction for their work on the first phase of the Gateway Project and stadium renovations.

“[Turner Construction has been] working really hard, the Turner team and all the subs are doing outstanding work, double shifts, 600 people on site at any given moment, and everything is on track for that August 23 home opener,” Goff said.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the home opener on August 23, the first game in the newly renovated David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, against Fresno State.
