Komatsu North America is growing its presence on the West Coast, announcing that its company-owned Komatsu West dealership network has officially added two new locations in Fresno and Sacramento, California. The expansion strengthens the brand’s reach across one of the country’s most active construction, agriculture, and recycling markets.
The Illinois-based heavy equipment manufacturer acquired the sites from the former Gee Heavy Machinery, a long-standing Sacramento-based dealership. With the changeover complete, Komatsu says both California locations are fully operational and staffed with seasoned technicians and service personnel who have served local fleets for years. According to the company, the locations are run by “experienced Komatsu professionals, including many of the same technicians who have long served local customers.”

Komatsu West says the acquisition allows it to deliver a comprehensive suite of customer support offerings. “With this expansion, Komatsu West will offer complete sales, rental, parts and service capabilities to help maximize operational uptime and productivity. Customers in Northern California will also find an expanded selection of pre-owned equipment, with more than 350 pieces now available for purchase through these locations.”
Northern California continues to be a high-demand region for construction and environmental equipment due to steady activity in commercial development, roadway work, agricultural operations, and recycling infrastructure. With supply chains tightening and equipment shortages affecting contractors nationwide, proximity to parts, service, and inventory has become a critical competitive advantage for manufacturers and dealers.
By adding the Fresno and Sacramento sites, Komatsu West is positioning itself to serve this growing market with improved customer access to:
The company emphasized its commitment to regional customers through its investment in the expanded network. “Our focus is on supporting customers and helping them keep their operations running smoothly,” said Todd Gaspers, vice president of operations for Komatsu West. “By expanding our operations into Northern California, we’re making sure customers have the local expertise, inventory and service they depend on.”

Komatsu’s product line—ranging from excavators and wheel loaders to material handlers and specialized recycling equipment—is widely used across Northern California’s diverse industries. With the new branches, fleet managers in the region are expected to benefit from:
The acquisition also ensures continuity for longtime Gee Heavy Machinery customers, many of whom have worked with the same technicians for years. By retaining these professionals, Komatsu West strengthens trust and maintains familiar service relationships.
Komatsu West’s growth in California mirrors broader industry consolidation trends as major OEMs bolster their dealer networks to deliver more direct-to-market support. The Fresno and Sacramento additions reinforce the company’s strategy of investing in regions experiencing rapid infrastructure development and equipment demand.
With the two new operations now online, Komatsu West says it plans to continue enhancing customer service, support capabilities, and fleet offerings throughout the Western United States.
