Highway rehabilitation programs continue to generate opportunities for transportation contractors as state agencies invest in extending the life of critical infrastructure. Lunda Construction, a subsidiary of Tutor Perini Corporation, has been awarded a $33.4 million contract from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) to improve a section of Highway 77 in the Minneapolis metropolitan area.
The project, identified as SP 2758-75, covers Highway 77 from Nicols Road to American Boulevard in Hennepin and Dakota counties.
Work will include grading, concrete and bituminous pavement construction, installation of high-tension cable guardrail systems, roadway lighting improvements, and rehabilitation of 10 bridges along the corridor.
The improvements are intended to enhance roadway safety and extend the service life of transportation infrastructure on one of the region's key highway routes.
Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2026, with substantial completion anticipated in fall 2028.
Tutor Perini said the contract, valued at $33,446,403, will be included in the company's third-quarter 2026 project backlog.
Transportation agencies continue to prioritize highway preservation and bridge rehabilitation to improve safety and maintain network reliability. For contractors and infrastructure owners, projects that combine roadway reconstruction with bridge rehabilitation provide long-term investment in critical transportation assets while supporting regional mobility.
