Cheyenne, Wyo. — Construction continues to move steadily at the future Morning Star American Indian Village at Frontier Park, with organizers saying the project is quickly taking shape as anticipation builds ahead of Cheyenne Frontier Days’ 130th anniversary.
Located within Frontier Park, the cultural village is one of two major development efforts aimed at transforming the grounds ahead of this year’s historic celebration. As work progresses, community leaders say the site is beginning to reveal its long-term significance for both residents and visitors.

Renée Middleton of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Foundation said momentum around the project is growing as more people begin to see the vision coming together.
“People are starting to realize, oh my goodness, this is going to be a cultural destination,” Middleton said.
According to Middleton, several major construction milestones are nearing completion. The dance arbor and vendor buildings are largely finished, and crews have installed most of the steel fencing that will encircle the village — a feature that is designed to serve as both a boundary and a centerpiece.
Wyoming News Now was told the fencing itself is intended to be a work of art, incorporating imagery that reflects the state’s heritage and landscapes.

“That will have steel silhouettes of bison and American Indian horses, as well as vignettes of all of the major landscapes of the state of Wyoming, like the Tetons, like Devil's Tower,” Middleton said.
Construction progress has also been helped by an unusually mild winter in Cheyenne, allowing crews to move faster than expected. Middleton noted that much of the educational and interpretive signage is already complete, setting the stage for a hands-on learning environment designed for visitors of all ages.
“The signage and all of the educational aspects are done and I can't wait for people to see that and learn because they're going to be so many different learning opportunities here for kids all the way to grandparents,” she added.
Middleton said the project remains on track for completion by July, aligning with the opening of the 130th Cheyenne Frontier Days. Once finished, the Morning Star American Indian Village is expected to offer an immersive cultural experience while becoming a lasting addition to Frontier Park well beyond the annual celebration.
