Employee engagement and community investment continue to play an important role in workforce culture across the construction industry. Mortenson has expanded its long-running support of the American Heart Association through fundraising, health education and wellness initiatives involving employees, project partners and families across several U.S. markets.
The company's 2026 efforts included broad participation in Heart Walk events and jobsite wellness activities designed to promote heart health while supporting medical research and community outreach.
Mortenson has participated in American Heart Association Heart Walk events for more than 10 years. During the 2026 Twin Cities Heart Walk, approximately 250 employees, family members, customers, trade partners and design partners joined the company's Minneapolis team.
The fundraising campaign generated nearly $70,000 this year, contributing to more than $500,000 raised by Mortenson over recent years to support cardiovascular research, education and advocacy programs.
Beyond Minnesota, employees also participated in Heart Walk activities in Phoenix, Portland, Omaha, Nashville and Seattle, reflecting the company's multi-regional community engagement strategy.
In addition to fundraising events, Mortenson incorporated heart health education into active construction projects through programs organized with the American Heart Association.
Seattle-area project teams participated in wellness challenges that encouraged healthier eating habits, blood pressure awareness and increased physical activity. Construction sites also hosted educational programs focused on reducing heart disease risk, while employees organized additional fundraising activities to support regional Heart and Stroke Walk campaigns.
Construction companies continue to expand employee wellness and community engagement programs as part of broader workforce development and retention strategies. Health-focused initiatives that involve employees, trade partners and clients can strengthen workplace culture while supporting safety, well-being and community relationships across the construction industry.
