The acquisition brings together two builders with deep roots in Florida and a history of delivering complex, high-impact projects across the Tampa Bay region. Moss said the deal enhances its capacity to serve clients in one of the country’s fastest-growing markets, while maintaining a strong focus on culture, people and long-term relationships.

“We’re excited to welcome Ellison Construction’s talented team into Moss. Their values and commitment to quality make them a natural fit with the culture and long-term vision that guide our work,” said Scott Moss, CEO of Moss.

Moss and Ellison Construction are both known for their emphasis on craftsmanship, client trust and community-focused development. Company leaders said the cultural alignment between the two organizations was a driving factor behind the transaction, allowing Moss to expand responsibly while preserving the qualities that have defined both firms’ success.

“We’re excited to welcome Ellison Construction’s talented team into Moss. Their values and commitment to quality make them a natural fit with the culture and long-term vision that guide our work,” Moss said. “This acquisition is about building a stronger, more resilient business—one that can better serve our clients, invest in our people, and help shape the future of the Tampa Bay communities where we live and build.”

As part of the transaction, Cory Ellison, president of Ellison Construction, will join Moss along with the broader Ellison Construction team, ensuring continuity for employees and clients.

"This was a thoughtful decision about future growth and what best serves our people and clients," Ellison said. "We found a partner that values culture, collaboration and the community as much as we do. Moss is a respected builder and industry leader, and the alignment between our teams and their long-term vision made this the right path forward."

Ellison Development will continue operating as a separate entity, with Casey Ellison remaining as CEO. The transaction also establishes a strategic construction relationship between Moss and Ellison Development, while allowing Ellison’s leadership team to focus on the growth of the newly launched ARK Ellison fund, established in partnership with Cathie Wood and ARK Invest, as well as ongoing development projects.

Those projects include three major master-planned developments currently in the pipeline: The Central in St. Petersburg, the Heights Redevelopment in Tampa Heights, and The Fletcher District, a project developed in partnership with the University of South Florida.

In addition, Sam Ellison will continue to lead Ellison Advisors, an owner’s representative firm working with clients such as the Tampa Museum of Art and the Tampa Theatre.

Moss said the acquisition supports its long-term strategy of intentional growth in key markets, combining scale, local expertise and long-standing relationships to deliver complex projects across multiple sectors, including mixed-use, hospitality, education, residential and renewable energy.
