NAVFAC Washington Names Ensign Ragen Nunez Construction Manager

WASHINGTON – The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Washington is proud to announce the appointment of Ensign Ragen Nunez as the new construction manager at Public Works Department Washington, where he will be assigned to the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). Nunez’s transition from the Marine Corps to the Navy Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) brings a unique combination of military experience and engineering expertise to the position.
“I had wanted to join the military for as long as I can remember,” said Nunez, who credits his grandfather, a Vietnam-era Seabee, as his primary inspiration for pursuing a career in the military. “My grandpa was a huge influence on me growing up. I always looked up to him – it seemed like he was capable of building or fixing anything.”
Before joining NAVFAC Washington, Nunez served as an all-source intelligence analyst with the Marine Corps. He completed assignments at the Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 3, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, and the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His most recent role was intelligence chief with the 1st Civil Affairs Group at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California.
In his new position at NRL, Nunez will take on the responsibility of overseeing construction management, with a special focus on geotechnical and water resource engineering projects.
"As a new construction manager with NAVFAC Washington, I see my role as integral to facilitating projects in a quality-focused, timely, and cost-effective manner," Nunez said. "My goal is to ensure that each project I oversee aligns with NAVFAC Washington's commitment to maintaining and strengthening infrastructure, promoting sustainability, and maximizing efficiency."
NAVFAC Washington’s commitment to hiring professionals with military backgrounds continues with Nunez's appointment. His diverse background, spanning both enlisted and officer roles within the Marine Corps and the Navy, combined with his civil engineering education, positions him to make a meaningful impact on NAVFAC's mission of delivering high-quality facilities engineering solutions.
“Ensign Nunez’s leadership, experience, and technical expertise will be a tremendous asset to NAVFAC Washington and the work we are doing to support the warfighter,” said NAVFAC Washington leadership. “We are confident that his contributions will help enhance the quality and efficiency of our projects, ultimately benefiting the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.”
Nunez's appointment reflects NAVFAC Washington’s ongoing effort to recruit highly skilled professionals who combine military service with technical know-how, furthering the command's mission to deliver excellence in facilities management.
