New Mexico State University (NMSU) is taking significant steps to enhance its football program with a $15.75 million renovation of Aggie Memorial Stadium. The project, which began in May 2024, is focused on modernizing the facilities and providing much-needed support for the team’s athletes, coaches, and staff.

The centerpiece of the renovation is a new, 18,000-square-foot building located between the football coaching offices and the playing field. This two-story facility will house state-of-the-art locker rooms, meeting areas, an equipment room, and a dedicated training center. These upgrades are designed to create an optimal environment for player development and improve the overall experience for both players and coaching staff.

A key part of the renovation includes a new academic center to support student-athletes in their academic endeavors. The center will feature computers and study spaces for football players, ensuring that their academic needs are met alongside their athletic training.

The project also features improvements to the team’s existing training center, with the addition of specialized equipment like hydrotherapy pools, hot and cold tubs, and expanded training spaces to aid player recovery and performance.

Coach Tony Sanchez has emphasized that the renovation aims to create a more efficient and modern space that supports the overall success of the Aggie football program. "The focus, just like we've done the past few years of football, is on the student-athletes," said Braun Cartwright, NM State's deputy athletic director. "We wanted to ensure that they have access to the best resources available."

The renovation is expected to be completed in time for the Aggies' season opener on August 30, 2025, against Bryant University, marking the beginning of a new era for Aggie football. With a fully upgraded facility, the team hopes to foster not only athletic excellence but also academic achievement and long-term success.
