RK Industries Moves HQ to Aurora, Adding 1,700 Jobs

AURORA, Colo. — RK Industries, a Colorado-founded construction and building services company, has announced a major expansion that will relocate its headquarters to Aurora and generate nearly 1,800 new jobs over the next eight years.

The news was shared Wednesday by Gov. Jared Polis, the Aurora Economic Development Council (AEDC), the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), and Adams County officials, marking one of the largest job commitments in the state in recent years.

RK Industries, which operates across construction, manufacturing, advanced fabrication, and building services, will establish a 154,488-square-foot headquarters facility in Aurora. The new building will consolidate four of its eight business divisions under one roof, streamlining operations while anchoring the company’s long-term presence in the Denver metro area.

“Colorado is the best place to work and play,” Gov. Polis said in a statement. “We are thrilled to see RK Industries expand in Colorado, which helps grow our state’s thriving advanced manufacturing industry and create 1,786 good-paying jobs for Coloradans.”

The expansion comes after more than two years of collaboration between AEDC, OEDIT, the City of Aurora, and Adams County, which worked together on site selection, incentive negotiations, and workforce development strategies to support RK’s decision.

CEO Jon Kinning emphasized that the move is not just about growth but about creating opportunity:
“Relocating our headquarters to Aurora isn’t just about expanding our footprint in Colorado, it’s about expanding opportunities,” Kinning said. He added that the company is “investing heavily” in workforce training and in strengthening the communities where its employees live and work.

RK Industries already has two facilities in Aurora and a manufacturing plant in nearby Henderson. Nearly half of the company’s current employees reside in Aurora, making the city a natural choice for its new headquarters.

Aurora leaders applauded the decision.
“Aurora is proud to welcome RK Industries’ headquarters,” said City Manager Jason Batchelor. “With so many of their employees already calling Aurora home, this is the perfect fit for RK Industries and our community.”

The expansion also highlights RK Industries’ long-standing role in workforce development. The company operates an accredited apprenticeship program in seven trades, including electrical, plumbing, welding, and HVAC. These programs are expected to play a critical role in addressing Colorado’s skilled labor shortage, ensuring a pipeline of qualified workers for the growing construction and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Beyond Colorado, RK Industries maintains operations in Eagle-Vail, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Salt Lake City, Cheyenne, and Dallas. Its eight divisions include RK Mechanical, RK Steel, RK Electrical, RK Mission Critical, RK Energy, RK Water, and RK Service in addition to its core industries branch.

According to state officials, the project represents the largest number of jobs tied to any company approved for a Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit in Colorado’s history.

State and local leaders believe the company’s choice reinforces Colorado’s competitive position as a hub for advanced manufacturing, construction innovation, and workforce training. The move is also a major win for Aurora, further solidifying the city’s role as a magnet for large-scale economic development.

“RK Industries choosing Aurora demonstrates both confidence in the city’s future and the strength of Colorado’s construction and advanced manufacturing sector,” the press release said.
