ROANOKE, Va. (Sept. 17, 2026) – Construction firm Robins & Morton marked the topping out of the new Carilion Taubman Cancer Center in Roanoke, Virginia.
The topping out ceremony signifies the structural completion of the project.
The six-story, nearly 257,000-square-foot cancer center will bring together personalized care, advanced technology and treatment options, sophisticated clinical trials, and cutting-edge research in a single location. It is designed to accommodate more patients than the current facility and support the healing process with natural light, outdoor spaces, and expanded amenities.
Carilion Clinic is the leading healthcare provider for Western Virginia, serving nearly 1 million patients annually. The new facility will be located on Carilion’s Riverside Campus, shared with partners Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC.

The project is scheduled for completion in late 2027.
The general contractor is Robins & Morton Branch Builds, a joint venture partnership. HDR is the architect.
