Investment in sports infrastructure continues to support both community recreation and elite athletic development across the United States. In New Jersey, construction is progressing on the expansion of a nationally recognised rowing venue that will enhance training capacity while accommodating a growing number of athletes and events.
Shawmut is serving as construction manager for the expansion of the Finn M. W. Caspersen Rowing Center at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
The project is being developed in collaboration with the Princeton National Rowing Association (PNRA), USRowing, Studio Hillier, Mercer County and Pandion Development Management.
The expansion will include additional boat storage, a strength and conditioning centre, dedicated ergometer training areas, recovery and locker facilities, athlete support spaces, meeting rooms and upgraded amenities designed to support both competitive and community rowing programmes.
Shawmut is coordinating construction while maintaining operations at the active rowing facility, working with project stakeholders to minimise disruption during project delivery.
The Caspersen Rowing Center has hosted numerous national and international rowing competitions, including Olympic Trials and national team selection events. Mercer County owns the facility, while PNRA manages operations in partnership with USRowing, The Hun School, The Lawrenceville School and The Peddie School.
Construction is progressing toward a planned completion in fall 2026.
