SMACNA Sets December Council Meeting for Chapter Leaders in San Diego

SMACNA chapter leaders will meet in San Diego in December for a council session covering organizational topics and matters submitted for discussion or potential action. Registration is open for the Council of Chapter Representatives Meeting, scheduled for Dec. 6-8, 2026.

The meeting is intended specifically for Chapter Executives and Councilors and will provide a formal setting for representatives to raise issues for council consideration.

San Diego Council Meeting

The three-day meeting will be held at the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in San Diego. Registration remains open for eligible participants.

The council meeting is structured to allow representatives to bring forward topics that may result in recommendations to SMACNA’s Board of Directors or be considered for informational and policy discussion.

The organization has also opened the process for submitting agenda items ahead of the meeting.

Agenda Submission Process

Chapter representatives must submit proposed topics by Oct. 2, 2026. Submissions can be made through SMACNA’s designated agenda-topic form or sent by email to the organization’s designated contact.

Only topics received by the deadline are scheduled for inclusion on the meeting agenda. Items submitted after the cutoff generally move to a subsequent council meeting unless council leadership determines that an issue requires urgent consideration.

Topics introduced during the meeting that were not included on the original agenda will be handled under the council’s procedures for non-agenda items. Any action on those matters requires approval from two-thirds of voting councilors attending the meeting.

Why It Matters

Chapter-level councils provide trade association members with a structured forum to raise operational and organizational issues. The December meeting gives eligible SMACNA representatives an opportunity to bring forward topics that could be discussed at the council level or advanced as recommendations to the association’s board.

The Oct. 2 agenda deadline also gives chapter representatives a defined period to identify and submit issues before the San Diego meeting.
