The 2026 Houston Rail Labor Solidarity Rally will bring railroad workers together to address shared concerns around safety, job security and workplace rights, providing a forum for collaboration across railroad crafts.
SMART-TD will hold the annual rally from noon to 6 p.m. CT on Oct. 13 at SPJST Lodge #88 in Houston. The event is expected to bring together workers from different areas of the railroad industry.
The program will feature information and resources related to the railroad industry, along with speakers from labor and community organizations. The event will also include refreshments, door prizes and giveaways.
The rally is designed around issues affecting railroad employees across crafts, with an emphasis on workplace safety, employment security and workers’ rights.
Bringing workers together across different railroad occupations provides an opportunity to discuss common industry concerns and strengthen coordination among labor groups.
Spouses and retirees are also welcome to participate, extending the event beyond active railroad employees.
SMART-TD is accepting contributions and sponsorships to support expenses associated with the rally, including food, facility costs, promotional materials and prizes.
Organizers are using the annual gathering to maintain connections among railroad workers and support continued labor coordination in the Houston area.
Cross-craft gatherings can provide railroad workers with a platform to exchange information and discuss safety and employment issues affecting the industry. The Houston rally also highlights the role of organized labor events in connecting active workers, retirees and community organizations around transportation workforce concerns.
