NEW YORK — STV has been selected by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to provide project management oversight (PMO) for the Central New York Forward transportation program, a long-term initiative aimed at supporting regional infrastructure improvements tied to major economic development in Onondaga County.
Under the assignment, STV will manage project scope and schedules for conceptual engineering alternatives while overseeing the environmental review process for roadway and highway improvements. The program is designed to prepare Central New York's transportation network for future growth driven by large-scale industrial and commercial investments.
A major catalyst for the initiative is Micron's planned 1,400-acre semiconductor manufacturing campus in Clay, New York. The development is expected to create approximately 9,000 direct jobs and include multiple semiconductor fabrication facilities along with supporting infrastructure such as utilities, warehouses, parking, childcare, healthcare and recreational amenities. Construction is expected to be completed in multiple phases through 2041.
According to STV, the transportation program will help address both existing and future mobility needs in the towns of Clay and Cicero while supporting nearby developments, including the redevelopment of the Great Northern Mall and Lakeshore Village.
As part of the assignment, the environmental impact statement (EIS) will evaluate the potential environmental effects of the proposed transportation improvements before construction advances.
The project strengthens STV's transportation planning and infrastructure management portfolio across New York. The firm provides planning, engineering, design and construction management services on transportation projects throughout the state, including transit, roadway, airport and resilience initiatives.
By coordinating project planning, environmental compliance and infrastructure delivery, STV's role is expected to help NYSDOT advance transportation improvements that support long-term economic development while maintaining efficient regional mobility.
The Central New York Forward program represents another significant infrastructure initiative focused on preparing transportation systems for future industrial investment and population growth.
