Construction companies are increasingly using community investment programs to direct funding toward local organizations and workforce-related causes. Sundt Foundation's first West Texas charity golf tournament generated $38,000 for Make-A-Wish North Texas, supporting services for eligible children across the organization's 161-county territory.
The inaugural tournament was held Sept. 3 at Coronado Country Club in El Paso. Funds raised through the event will support Make-A-Wish North Texas and its efforts to provide programs for children with critical illnesses.
The fundraiser expands Sundt Foundation's charitable activity in West Texas while directing contributions toward a nonprofit serving communities across the region.
Sundt Construction supports nonprofit organizations through the Sundt Foundation and other corporate giving initiatives. The company has established a goal of contributing $65 million to nonprofit organizations nationwide by 2035.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants on a quarterly basis. Applications are evaluated through a review process overseen by committees made up of Sundt employee-owners in local markets.
Sundt operates across multiple construction sectors, including transportation, water and wastewater, advanced facilities, heavy industrial and mining, building, concrete and renewable power. The company has more than 5,200 employees and offices across several states, including Texas.
For construction companies, structured charitable giving programs can provide a mechanism for supporting communities where construction operations and employees are based. Sundt's West Texas fundraiser adds a local fundraising channel to its broader nonprofit giving program, with the proceeds directed toward services for children and families.
