Toll Brothers Begins Work on The Airedale, Its First Multifamily Development in North Carolina

Toll Brothers Apartment Living, the rental subsidiary of luxury homebuilder Toll Brothers, has officially broken ground on The Airedale, a new luxury multifamily development located at 13607 Choate Circle in Charlotte, North Carolina. This marks the company’s inaugural foray into the state’s multifamily market.

The community is being developed in partnership with International Capital, with TD Bank providing financing. Spanning 19.75 acres, The Airedale will offer 348 upscale rental units across three-story buildings, featuring a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts. Completion is scheduled for late 2026.

“We are excited to officially break ground at The Airedale, our first multifamily community in North Carolina,” said John McCullough, President of Toll Brothers Apartment Living. “Toll Brothers Apartment Living is known for building extraordinary communities in thriving locations, and The Airedale will set a new standard for luxury living in Charlotte.”

Each apartment will include high-end finishes such as quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, smart home features, modular closets, kitchen islands, and private balconies. These design elements aim to offer a blend of elegance and convenience for future residents.

Beyond the individual units, the community will boast a wide range of amenities. A centerpiece of the property is an 8,200-square-foot clubhouse, accompanied by a resort-style pool with a sundeck, outdoor grilling areas, and an array of leisure and fitness options. These include a 24/7 fitness center with individual workout pods, an outdoor gym area, a dedicated pet park, a coworking suite, a coffee bar, and a catering kitchen—designed to promote a live-work-play lifestyle.

Located in Charlotte’s rapidly growing Steele Creek neighborhood, The Airedale will provide easy access to shopping and dining destinations such as RiverGate Shopping Center and Steele Creek Crossing. Its proximity to Interstates 77 and 485 also positions it as a convenient location for commuters traveling to South End, Uptown Charlotte, and other key employment centers in the region.

Michael Skena, Managing Director of Toll Brothers Apartment Living for the Mid-Atlantic region, said the project is aligned with the company’s commitment to offering top-tier residential experiences.

“The Airedale represents our commitment to delivering thoughtfully designed communities with elevated living experiences,” Skena said. “With modern residences, best-in-class amenities, and a location that puts the best of Steele Creek and Charlotte within reach, The Airedale will offer residents a community defined by comfort, style, and convenience.”

The development aligns with growing demand for luxury rental housing in Charlotte’s expanding suburbs, driven by population growth and a surge in corporate relocations to the area. With this project, Toll Brothers is aiming to stake a strong claim in North Carolina’s booming multifamily housing sector.
