Turner and AECOM Hunt Joint Venture to Lead Construction of Philadelphia’s Next-Generation Sports Arena

The Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers have announced the selection of a joint venture between Turner Construction Company and AECOM Hunt to oversee the construction of a new state-of-the-art arena in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex.

The partnership, named PACT+, brings together leading national builders with key local partners — Perryman Construction, Hunter Roberts Construction Group, and Camfred Construction — to ensure the project reflects the heart and spirit of Philadelphia while maximizing opportunities for local participation.

The new arena is slated to open in 2030, aligning with the debut of the Philadelphia WNBA team, which will also call the venue home. The project is designed to be a cutting-edge hub for sports, entertainment, and community events, incorporating advanced technology and fan-centric experiences.

“Having Turner and AECOM Hunt on our team is a game-changer as we work to build the most technologically advanced and fan-focused sports and entertainment venue in the world,” said David Adelman, Chairman of the joint venture between the 76ers and Flyers. “The knowledge this venture brings to the project will ensure we are on the cutting edge of the next era of how fans experience live sports and entertainment. This team shares our commitment to being authentic to the Philadelphia fan experience and building an arena the city and fans can be proud of. We are also proud to partner with local, Philadelphia-based firms to bring this generational project to life.”

For Turner Construction, which has deep roots in Philadelphia dating back to 1907, the project represents both innovation and legacy. “This is more than a construction project—it’s a chance to build something that becomes part of Philadelphia’s fabric for generations,” said Dave Kaminski, Vice President and Senior General Manager for Turner. “As someone who calls this city home, I couldn’t be prouder that Turner is helping shape a landmark that will bring people together and celebrate what makes Philadelphia such a special place.”

AECOM Hunt’s leadership echoed that sentiment. “We’re honored to help bring the future of sports and entertainment to South Philly with this next-generation arena,” said Jason Kopp, Chief Operating Officer, Central Region, AECOM Hunt. “Designed to transform the fan experience for decades to come, this venue will feature cutting-edge amenities for athletes, performers, and visitors alike—setting a new standard in large-scale venue design and construction. From Sixers and Flyers games to concerts and more, this project reflects the best of what’s possible when vision, innovation, and Philadelphia’s world-class skilled workforce come together. Together, we’re bringing bold vision to life, one that will truly reflect and represent the heart, spirit, and pride of Philadelphia.”

With over five decades of stadium and arena construction experience—and two decades of collaboration between Turner and AECOM Hunt—the joint venture is well-positioned to deliver the ambitious project. Their combined resume includes some of the most recognized sports venues in the U.S., such as SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Barclays Center in New York, State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and the Intuit Dome, the upcoming home of the Los Angeles Clippers.

In Philadelphia, their portfolio features Lincoln Financial Field, FMC Tower, One uCity Square, and the upcoming Chubb Center, demonstrating a strong legacy of delivering complex, high-profile projects across the city.

Beyond the structure itself, the arena’s construction is expected to generate thousands of local jobs, engage diverse contractors, and drive long-term economic impact throughout the region. The ownership and design team—led by Populous and Moody Nolan—will continue to refine the arena’s look and layout to reflect the vibrancy and authenticity of Philadelphia’s communities.

The 76ers, Flyers, and their partners envision a venue that embodies the future of urban sports entertainment while strengthening the cultural and economic fabric of South Philadelphia.
