Turner Construction has completed the new $105 million Tennessee Oncology Midtown Medical Office Building in Nashville, marking a significant addition to the city’s expanding healthcare infrastructure and its reputation as a regional hub for advanced medical care.
The five-story, 311,881-square-foot facility consolidates multiple oncology specialties into one integrated space designed to enhance the patient experience. The project was officially opened this week, with Turner and Tennessee Oncology leaders emphasizing its role in improving both comfort and access to care for cancer patients.
“This project is about more than a building—it’s about creating a place where patients and families feel supported during some of the most challenging times in their lives,” said Paul Lawson, vice president and general manager of Turner’s Nashville office.
The new facility is located in Nashville’s Midtown district, a fast-developing area that has become a key node in the city’s growing healthcare corridor. Beyond housing outpatient and research services, the building includes three levels of underground parking, improving accessibility for patients and staff alike.
Turner provided both preconstruction and construction management services for the project. The New York-based contractor managed three concurrent scopes of work: construction of the building’s core and shell, a full interior fit-out across four floors, and completion of a specialized drug development unit that will support clinical research and new therapy production.
Managing these simultaneous scopes required detailed coordination among design teams, trade partners, and field crews. Turner said its project team emphasized strict safety protocols, schedule alignment, and integrated workflows to ensure that each phase progressed smoothly despite the complexity of the build.
While Turner has become a national leader in data center construction, the company continues to invest heavily in healthcare facilities, one of its longest-standing markets. In addition to the Nashville project, Turner is part of a joint venture with Flintco Construction, Nickson General Contractors, and Fifer & Associates to deliver a $1 billion hospital project in Memphis, Tennessee. Earlier this year, another Turner-led team topped out a $550 million expansion at University Health’s Palo Alto Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
Turner’s healthcare portfolio spans hundreds of active projects nationwide, reflecting the growing demand for medical infrastructure as healthcare providers expand outpatient and specialty services. Real estate consultancy JLL reported earlier this year that occupancy rates for medical office buildings have risen sharply due to the shift toward outpatient treatment and research-based facilities.
That demand has also attracted competitors such as Suffolk Construction, which opened a new California office in August to focus on healthcare builds across the state.
For Tennessee Oncology, one of the nation’s largest physician-owned oncology practices, the new Midtown building represents an evolution in patient care. The integrated space enables close collaboration between oncologists, researchers, and clinical teams—allowing for faster, more coordinated treatment pathways.
The building’s design prioritizes natural light, open circulation, and restorative environments—elements increasingly recognized as essential in reducing patient stress and promoting healing.
“This new facility is a reflection of our mission to deliver hope and innovation,” said a Tennessee Oncology spokesperson. “It brings together our experts and our patients in a setting designed to promote comfort, research, and compassionate care.”
With the completion of this $105 million project, Nashville continues to strengthen its standing as one of the leading healthcare and biomedical research cities in the Southeast—supported by the ongoing investments of contractors like Turner, who are helping shape the city’s medical future.
