Mental health and suicide prevention remain critical safety issues for the construction workforce, prompting Turner Construction Company to expand jobsite awareness and support efforts during Construction Suicide Prevention Week.
Turner is incorporating mental health check-ins into project huddles and toolbox talks while displaying campaign materials at offices and construction sites. The “See You Tomorrow” initiative encourages workers to check on colleagues, recognize signs that someone may be struggling and connect people with available support.
The program is tied to Turner’s broader Active Caring approach, which emphasizes looking out for coworkers and taking action when support may be needed.
Turner is also promoting the “Stronger than the Silence” video series, developed through a partnership involving the Turner Foundation, SAFE Project and the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention. The series features construction workers discussing experiences related to mental health, suicide, grief and recovery.
Turner employees can access mental health support through Lyra. The company is also directing workers to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, which provides crisis support across the United States.
Construction companies increasingly need safety programs that address both physical and mental well-being. Turner’s initiative brings mental health discussions into routine project activities, giving workers more opportunities to recognize concerns, reduce stigma and connect with support.
